A part from that, we welcome to the exciting practical course for people who need to learn (Ki)Swahili for travel or work. This is based on real-life situations and along with CD which can give you everything you need to speak (Ki)Swahili. The course is largely embedded with culture. The learners mostly immersed with the (Ki)Swahili native speakers and culture. This course entails tours to learn ample culture and history. Exposure to (Ki)Swahili will be the way for learners to experience an array of cultural and artefact events. Zanzibar cuisine of unique flavors from spices available in Zanzibar which make Zanzibar Island to be granted the name of Spice Island. Local made items from local available materials such as local basket, hat and mat making. A range of hair plaiting styles and henna painting is a common norm which is fascinating. Local made musical instruments and subsequently composing live Zanzibar music is memorable events which no one can dare miss!
Pot-making / Swahili pottery is unique experience in that one can see on site. This will include Swahili pots for water storage and for cooking as well as burners for burning essence (udi) and all these are made in the same workshop – Experiencing them right for mixing clay to the finished product is indeed marvelous!
Making treasure boxes and other carving items including doors is amazing to see live in Zanzibar. Hand carving doors which have drawn some elements from Indian and Arabic culture is a fantastic occasion to experience. Since Zanzibar is common for making huge curved doors the kind of such doors are named as Zanzibar door. The wood carvers feel pride to demonstrate their carving skills when one visits at their workshop.

There are immense difference between funeral of majority of Zanzibar who are Muslims from those of other believers. However, as Zanzibar is a multicultural island, people of Zanzibar attend the funeral services and burial regardless to their religion however, there are some restrictions to take part in some events.
